A Hybrid car uses an electric charge stored in a battery to supplement propulsion of gas and diesel powered internal combustion engines. An Electric car only uses battery stored electricity to propel the car. Currently both Hybrid and Electric cars get the electric power charging from more then 90% fossil fuel driven power generation. Many charging stations scattered throughout the country run a diesel powered generator to produce the recharge electricity. These diesel powered recharge stations actually lower the hybrid and electric vehicle fuel mileage, due to the use of fossil fuels for charging.
